Supporting Local NGO's

There are many non-profits and non-governmental organizations that serve communities in the Tola region in many different ways.  We have made it a priority to support these local institutions in order to facilitate their expansion and program development.

We are happy to support organizations like Casa Verde, Puertas de Saber, Fundación Aprender and the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic.

Casa Verde is a local non-profit that works in conservation and reforestation. With our $540 donation, they were able to purchase 4 beehives and run a series of bee-keeping trainings for locals in the area. In November 2013, Casa Verde successfully harvested pure honey for the first time! All of the honey was sold locally and profits were re-invested to develop the program further.

The Roberto Clemente Health Clinic serves over 12,000 patients per year and offers medical services that would not otherwise be available in the area. We have donated over $20,000 the past 7 years to the clinic in order to fund the expansion of facilities and medical services.

Puertas de Saber is a library located in Limon Dos. They offer homework help and important research resources for students. Here, Library director Sonia Noguera, speaks during the inauguration of the new computer lab. Our annual $600 donation helps the library fund expansions like this one.
