Meet the Team

Michael Ford | Executive Director
As a child Michael spent many school vacations in Limón and other neighboring towns. In high school he spent several months interning at Rancho Santana. He attended the University of Denver, where he earned a Bachelors degree in English Literature and another in Geography, focusing on Latin American development, and the economics of sustainability.  After doing a variety of health, education, and development work programs in Thailand, Uganda, and Rwanda, he earned an MBA from the Daniels College of Business and began focusing on program design and organizational development for FunLimón.  As FunLimón’s director, he credits his energetic team with growing FunLimón into the most successful community development organization in Nicaragua.

Carla Membreño | Computer Teacher
Carla is our youth and adult computer teacher.  She is from Rivas and is one of our FunLimón university scholarship recipients.  Carla attends the University of Commercial Science in Managua and will soon receive her degree in Marketing and Publicity.  Carla’s main goal is to teach students how to use technology to their advantage.  Her patience and dedication have allowed her students to excel.


Carla helps students create spreadsheets during the Microsoft Excel unit.

Diter Acevedo | English and Spanish Language Teacher
Diter is our youth English teacher.  He is responsible for curriculum development and teaches classes from beginner to advanced.  He is currently earning his degree in teaching English as a second language at the Anunciata University in Rivas. Diter's positive attitude and dedication have made him an extremely important member of our FunLimón team.

Bosco Medrano | Vocational Education TeacherDon Bosco Medrano teaches both the Residential Plumbing and Welding courses.  He is originally from Jinotepe, Nicaragua and was one of the original founders of the Jinotepe Polytechnic Institute.  Don Bosco was formally trained in Germany and has over 30 years experience in curriculum development and vocational education. 

Alex Orellana | Fitness Trainer
Alex is the fitness trainer here at the FunLimón gym.  He is in charge of fitness center orientations and providing personalized fitness trainings.  Alex’s main goal is to help the people of the community improve their personal health.  Alex graduated from the Universidad Hispanoamericano de Nicaragua with a degree in Public Accounting and Finance.
